අද මධ්‍යම රාත්‍රියේ සිට දිවයිනපුරා බලපැවැත්වෙන පරිදි නිරෝධායන ඇඳිරි නිතිය පැනවීමේ කිසිදු බලාපොරොත්තුවක් නොමැති බව යුද හමුදාපති ලුතිනන් ජනරාල් ශවේන්ද්‍ර සිල්වා සඳහන් කර සිටිනවා.

නව පාසල් වාරය ලබන ජනවාරි මස 11 වෙනිදා සිට ආරම්භ කෙරෙන බව අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශය නිවේදනය කර සිටිනවා. ඒ අනුව සියලු පාසල්වල 1-5 ශ්‍රේණි ද ඇතුළුව සියලු ශ්‍රේණිවල සිසුන්ට පාසල් ඇරඹෙන බවයි එම නිවේදනයෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් වන්නේ.

In the wake of the discovery of a fast-spreading new strain of COVID-19, the Government has decided to continue with the existing procedure of obtaining prior approval from the Foreign Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for all inbound travellers to Sri Lanka.

The Government yesterday denied speculation over Cabinet approval being given for India to develop the long-delayed East Container Terminal (ECT), but two committees have been appointed to evaluate its development, including already forwarded proposals and investment opportunities for local companies.

A Workshop on SDG Mainstreaming and Data Capacity Building was conducted for the Ministry of Environment by the Sustainable Development Council of Sri Lanka (SDCSL) on 23rd December at the Ministry of Environment (Sobadampiyasa) in collaboration with the Department of Census and Statistics and UNDP Sri Lanka. SDCSL is mandated to provide guidance relating to sustainable development to ministries and other government institutions in terms of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Development Act, No 19 OF 2017.

Home quarantine has been exempted for individuals who arrive in Sri Lanka and are initially quarantined in hotels.

Another drug made locally under the “New Drugs for a New Country” programme to produce 50 percent of Sri Lanka’s total pharmaceuticals requirement locally was launched yesterday by the State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC).

No decision has been taken to impose quarantine curfew or travel restrictions during the next few days, Army commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva says.

There will be no quarantine curfew imposed in Colombo or the Western Province during the long Christmas weekend and travel restrictions outside the province will also not be imposed, Army Commander and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19, Lt. General Shavendra Silva told Daily Mirror yesterday.
