The Government’s island-wide rural infra-structure development programme is based on a sizeable Rs. 37.6 billion budget allocation that provides for an integrated upgrade of electorate level economic infrastructure and boosting of rural-urban market linkages. Railway trade unions have decided to temporarily suspend the train strike launched on 20th June. However, they have also decided to launch train strikes weekly until their demands are fulfilled.
