The Trump administration says it will push the new Sri Lankan Government on the human rights issue.

President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at the Narita International Airport, Tokyo yesterday to attend the Enthronement ceremony of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. The President was received by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Tokyo Prof. Ganganath Dissanayake, Embassy officials and a special Japanese delegation. President Sirisena will join several world leaders for the ceremony to be held at the State Hall of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Asserting that despite many domestic priorities Sri Lanka has discharged its obligations in paying its assessments to date, the Sri Lanka delegation to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) has called on the United Nations Secretariat to utilize the available resources received from the Member States in a more effective, impartial and transparent manner, at a time when the Organization is battling its worst financial crisis leading to the implantation of austerity measures and limited operations.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka attended the lecture on the Indo-Pacific concept within the framework of the course of public lectures titled ‘ASEAN Academic Days’ on 16 October, at the invitation of the Moscow State University of International Affairs (MGIMO).
