The suspension of the issuing revenue licences for vehicles registered in the Central Province (CP), Southern Province (SP) and Uva Province (UP) has been extended due to the COVID pandemic situation in the country, the Government Information Department said.
As a result, the CP's revenue licences, which had been suspended until today, have been extended until June 30.
No fine will be charged to owners for failure to renew revenue licence which are set to expire between May 17 to June 30.
The Governor of the Southern Province also announced that the province's revenue licences, which were set to expire on June 17, have been extended until September 30. Previously, the period for issuing revenue licenses was suspended from May 17 to June 17. No fines will be charged for revenue licences during the above period until July 31.
The temporary revenue licence obtained through online now have a validity period of 60 days (until July 31).
Meanwhile, the said practice in the Uva Province has also been extended until July 16. Accordingly, there will be no issuance of revenue licence until the said date and therefore, no fine will be charged to owners for failure to renew revenue licence during the above mentioned period. However, the facility extended for obtaining temporary licence is still active. (Daily Mirror)
