The Government has ramped up its anti-Coronavirus drive, with a plan to set up regional offices at divisional secretariat level to coordinate health measures and educate the public on preventing COVID-19. These offices will be manned by health officials and also a Police officer. This was part of a series of proposals outlined in a circular issued yesterday by Public Administration, Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary S. Hettiarachchi for State institutions, semi-Government institutions, the private sector and the public. The circular also detailed a list of measures needed to be taken to prevent the spread and achieve eradication COVID-19 from the country.
Sri Lanka’s foreign coaching staff has decided to stay back, for the time being at least, in Colombo, despite the cancellation of the home Test series against England due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the latest statistics issued by the Epidemiology Unit yesterday a total of 133 individuals (including nine foreigners) are currently under observation for COVID-19. Eighteen Sri Lankans living in Sri Lanka found positive for the virus are now being treated at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital and several other centres.
Dehiwala National Zoo, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, Pinnawela Zoo, Ridiyagama Safari Park, Botanical Gardens and all the National Parks under the Wildlife Department will be closed for two weeks from tomorrow as a precautionary measure to contain Covid-19.
