ඔක්තෝබර් 11 වැනිදා පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත ඇල්පිටිය ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මැතිවරණය අහම්බෙන් කඩා පාත්වූ මැතිවරණයකි. එහෙත් ජනාධිපතිවරණයට මාසයක් තිබියදී පැවැත්වෙන ඇල්පිටිය පුංචි මැතිවරණය ජනාධිපතිවරණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් බලාපොරොත්තු තබා සිටින ප්‍රධාන දේශපාලන පක්ෂවලට තීරණාත්මකය.

ඉදිරි ජනපතිවරණයට අමාත්‍ය සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතා තරග කිරීමේදි හංසයා ලකුණින් තරග කිරීමට එකඟතාවක් එක්සත් ජාතික පෙරමුණේ ඇතිව තිබෙන බව වාර්තා වෙයි.

එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂයේ ජනාධිපති ධුර අපේක්ෂකත්වය නියෝජ්‍ය නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාසට හිමිවීමෙන් පසු මැතිවරණ ප්‍රචාරක රැලිවලට පක්ෂ නායක රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ සහභාගිවීමෙන් වැළකී සිටිය යුතු බව සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස පාර්ශ්වය යෝජනා කර ඇති බව වාර්තා වෙයි.
