ශ්‍රී ලංකා සම්භවයක් සහිත කාන්තාවක් වන තුෂාරා විලියම්ස් මහත්මියට කැනඩා රජයේ අභ්‍යන්තර කටයුතු පිළිබඳ නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ධුරය හිමිව තිබේ.

රුමේනියානු අගනගරය වන බුකරෙස්ට් හි ශ්‍රී ලංකා තානාපති කාර්යාලයක් විවෘත කිරීමට තීරණය කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් රුමේනියානු විදේශ කටයුතු පිළිබඳ රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ට්‍රයින් රිස්ටී (Traian Hristea) මහතා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ස්තූතිය පුද කළේය.

ජනාධිපති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා මේ දිනවල පැරීසියේ පැවැත්වෙන “නව ගෝලීය මූල්‍ය ගිවිසුමක් සඳහා වූ ගෝලීය නායකයින්ගේ සමුළුවට” සහභාගී වෙමින් සිටින බව ජනාධිපති මාධ්‍ය අංශය සඳහන් කරයි.

මෙරට නවසීලන්ත මහකොමසාරිස් මයිකල් ඇපල්ටන් මහතා  අද (28) අරලියගහ මන්දිරයේදී අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය දිනේෂ් ගුණවර්ධන මහතා හමුවිය. ‍

රුසියාව සමග එක්ව යුක්රේනයට එරෙහිව සටන් වැදුණු  වැග්නර් කුලී හමුදාවෝ රුසියාවට එරෙහිව යුද්දයකට සැරසෙති.

කැනරි දූපත්වලට ඔබ්බෙන් වූ අත්ලාන්තික් සාගරයේ බෝට්ටුවක් ගිලී යාමෙන් සංක්‍රමණිකයන් 30කට වැඩි පිරිසක් දියේ ගිලී මිය ගොස් ඇති බව විදෙස් මාධ්‍ය පවසයි.

අධ්‍යාපනයේ ව්‍යුහාත්මක හා ගුණාත්මක පරිවර්තනයක් සිදු කිරීම සඳහා අධ්‍යාපන තාක්ෂණවේදය, විද්‍යාව හා තාක්ෂණය සහ ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂාව ඉගැන්වීම පුළුල් කිරීමට සැලසුම් සකස් කරමින් සිටින බව අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය සුසල් ප්‍රේමජයන්ත් මහතා පවසයි.

The Government is continuing its focus on long-term measures towards reconciliation and accountability within the constitutional framework despite ongoing challenges, the Sri Lankan delegation told the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka, speaking as a country concerned, said the Government was addressing unprecedented social and economic issues arising from the economic crisis.

Political stability had been restored, while conditions on the ground had improved considerably for the people. The International Monetary Fund Extended Fund Facility for Sri Lanka was approved recently, and the necessary reforms are underway, while social protection measures have also been introduced. The Government was determined to safeguard peace and harmony among all communities while respecting fundamental freedoms.

The Government was engaging in consultations with all stakeholders on the draft Anti-Terrorism Bill and receiving views to ensure that it was in compliance with international standards, while catering to domestic needs.

The Anti-Corruption Bill was challenged in the Supreme Court, and a determination given. It was being taken up in Parliament for the Second Reading today, June 21. On May 29, the Secretary to the President was authorised to establish an interim secretariat of a truth and reconciliation mechanism. As of May, the Office on Missing Persons had concluded preliminary inquiries on over 3,000 complaints.

The President had emphasised the need for its enhanced operations, including through digitisation and speeding up the issuance of Certificates of Absence.

Sri Lanka had categorically rejected the external evidence gathering mechanism established following resolutions 46/1 and 51/1, which would have wide-ranging legal and political implications for all countries.Sri Lanka actively and constructively engaged with the regular human rights mechanisms. Sri Lanka pledged its continued co-operation and constructive engagement with the Council.
