Sufficient fuel in hand until next shipment is due: Minister

There is no issue with the existing stock of fuel at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) until the next ship with fuel arrives, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

In a statement to the media today, he stated that adequate petrol, auto diesel, super petrol, kerosene and jet fuel are in stock.

"The fuel shipments regularly sail in every once in four or five days. Until then, we have adequate stocks to manage the situation, "he said.

However, we have limited stocks of octane 95 petrol, he said. "We have prioritized issuing auto diesel and octane 92 petrol as many vehicles run using them. Two tanker freighters with 92 and 95 octane petrol and a crude oil tanker have already anchored near the Colombo port," Minister Wijesekera said.

"Petrol and crude oil will be unloaded from Wednesday (4) as today and tomorrow being bank holidays, the unloading process are on hold," he said.

The Minister added that all arrangements have been made after discussions with the central bank and other relevant banks. (Daily Mirror)
