Children between 12 and 18 years of age and have taken at least a single dose of a recognized COVID-19 vaccine and completed 14 days after vaccination, will be considered fully vaccinated, the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) said.

While issuing a special communiqué, regarding preventive measures for travellers and crew members coming into the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, CAASL Director General Themiya Abeywickrama said the travellers or crew members who have been administered with the recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and completed 14 days, are considered fully vaccinated.

The key conditions applied to travellers entering Sri Lanka are as follows:

All test reports and required documents when entering, including proof of vaccination, shall be in English, and self-swabs of RAT are not acceptable.

COVID-19 PCR tests or Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) are no longer required prior to entering Sri Lanka for fully vaccinated travellers or children under the age of 12.

If a traveller has been infected with COVID-19 within 6 months to 7 days** pl check prior to their departure flight and arriving in Sri Lanka, and has received at least a single dose of a recommended vaccine, they do not need to have a PCR test or RAT before boarding their flight. The traveler must have verifiable documents to prove a past history of COVID-19 infection, i.e., a diagnosis card or a positive PCR Test/RAT Report.

If a traveller with a single dose of vaccine for COVID19 is infected with COVID-19 more than 6 months prior to the departure flight into Sri Lanka, The traveller shall then require a negative pre-departure PCR test/RAT. A PCR test shall be done within 72 hours prior to departure, or a RAT test shall be done within 48 hours of departure.

All other travelers aged 12 and over, who are not fully vaccinated and do not fall into the above categories (Numbers 3 & 4) must obtain a negative pre-departure COVID-19 PCR Test report within 72 hours of departure OR a negative Rapid Antigen Test report within 48 hours of departure.

When a traveller has been infected with COVID-19, he/she should plan his/her arrival in Sri Lanka at least seven days after contracting the infection.

Please note that the above mentioned conditions shall remain in force until further notice and supersede anything to the contrary in the public health measures imposed by the CAASL Special Direction dated February (Daily Mirror)
