The population and the household census which was to be conducted in 2021 will be done in the years 2022/2023, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa told Parliament yesterday.
“Accurate data is needed to prepare sustainable development plans and the Department of Census and Statistics is playing a major role in it. Therefore the population and household census which was to be conducted in 2021 will be carried out in 2022/2023,” the Prime Minister said.
“Sri Lanka, just like the other nations, is going through a difficult period as a result of this post pandemic crisis. The department of Economic Policies and Planning is taking steps to meet the post pandemic crisis by preparing short, midterm and long term plans,” he added.(Daily Mirror)
