Decision on quarantine curfew tomorrow: Army Chief

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will meet tomorrow morning to take a decision whether the quarantine curfew imposed in the country will be further extended or lifted after Monday, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.

General Silva told Daily Mirror that the COVID-19 committee will also meet tonight to review the current situation and will brief the progress to the President at tomorrow’s meeting.

During the previous meeting, the quarantine curfew imposed on August 20 was extended till September 6.

However, several health experts and State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle expressed their opinion that it is better to extend the current lockdown for at least two more weeks.(Daily Mirror)
