A special arrangement has been made to provide COVID-19 vaccines for those who are aspiring to go abroad for employment with a valid visa, Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.
“They will be given the vaccines that is approved by the respective countries they are expecting to go to,"
"Pfizer is the approved vaccine in all of these countries and the Health Ministry has granted approval for this purpose,” he said.
Accordingly, the Minister said around 8,000 migrant workers are expecting to go to 15 countries are to receive the said vaccine.
“They will be getting their first dose in centres operated in Colombo with the second dose in due course, and they are expected to leave the country within the next couple of months,” the Minister added. (Daily Mirror)
