Teachers, Principals must be notified about today’s cabinet decision: Joseph Stalin

The Teachers and Principals Unions today said that they will continue with their trade union action, if they do not receive solutions to their demands following today's cabinet meeting, Ceylon Teachers' Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin said.

He said the Teachers and Principals Unions initiated their own trade union action to solve their salary anomalies, which remain unresolved for the past 24 years.

He said the Education Ministry Secretary had issued a circular recalling all the teachers and principals without any organising*** (not clear). Later, the teachers were advised to continue with their online teaching practices.

"We cannot continue with online teaching without the provision of facilities from the ministry," he said. Therefore, we have decided to continue with our trade union action.

"If a favourable cabinet decision is announced, the trade union action will be called off from tomorrow. If not, we will continue. The responsibility for the inconvenience caused by the trade union action to the children should be borne by the government. The government should not pass the demands from one cabinet meeting to another, "Mr. Stalin said. (Daily Mirror)
