Development officers, trainees to launch strike from tomorrow

The Development officers and trainees have decided to refrain from work from tomorrow (14) demanding release of all illegally detained trade union leaders, the Joint Development Officers' Association (JDOA) Secretary Dhammika Munasinghe said.

He said Joint Unemployed Graduates Association Convener Ven. Thenne Gnanananda Thera and teachers' union leaders who protested for their rights were currently being held illegally in military custody.

The teachers' unions have already called a strike against the action. Therefore, the JDOA had decided to join with the ongoing strike by refraining from their work from tomorrow.

All teachers refrained from conducting online teaching practices from yesterday against the government’s move to direct CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin and 15 others into forcible quarantine after being released on bail and until providing a solution for online teaching. (Daily Mirror)
