Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists have requested women, aged above 30, in the Western Province, to get inoculated against Covid -19 at the nearest vaccination centre.
Issuing a statement, the academic body of these medical experts said it was advisable for pregnant women suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes and traveling for work and engaged in high risk occupations to get their Covid -19 jabs.
They also said vaccination provides better protection against Delta variant of Covid -19.
Twelve pregnant women have already died of Covid -19 in the country. (Daily Mirror)
