Sri Lankan Embassy in UAE  denies allegations of ill-treating Sri Lankans

The Sri Lankan Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has requested the public to verify reports from either the Embassy or the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office prior to circulation on social media.

Issuing a press release, the Embassy said it has noted a few video clips circulating on social media which on verification were found to be factually incorrect.

The Embassy said the Government of Sri Lanka has appreciated the role played by the Government of the UAE to assist Sri Lankan nationals in the UAE during the global outbreak of the corona virus.

Sri Lankan nationals who test positive to COVID-19 are taken to hospitals and quarantine centers which are well managed and have a high quality- standard, it explained.

The Embassy went on to clarify that the Sri Lanka Embassy, the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office together with the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, Welfare Organizations, and other community and religious organizations are also assisting with the distribution of dry rations and other necessities to Sri Lankan nationals.
