New heads for over 10 state institutions : Pelpita to get DLB

It is reported that chairman positions of around 10 -12 leading state institutions are likely to change soon.

These state institutions include a financial institution and several corporations and authorities, reports add.

In addition, internal government sources state that several chairmen in state media institutions are to change as well.

Also, several ministry secretaries are to be changed as well.

A few days back, Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Daya Ratnayake was appointed as the Chairman of the Ports Authority.

In addition, it is speculated that the retired secretary of the Industries Ministry - Anusha Pelpita, will be appointed as the chairman of the Development Lotteries Board.

According to top sources, the reason for the change is the inefficient governance as well as allegations of fraud and corruption that had taken place in these institutions during the past year. Meanwhile, it is reported that necessary steps are being taken to shuffle subject matters under several cabinet ministries.

Conspiracy within the govt.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) - Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara says that there is a conspiracy currently underway in the government.

He said that the conspiracy aims to remove all current stakeholders currently affiliated with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Noting that the decision to increase fuel prices was not a sole decision of Minister Udaya Gammanpila, the SLFP Gen. Secretary claims that the no confidence motion is actually a plan of the opposition to reap benefits from the clash of opinions in the ruling coalition.
