People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) collaborated in conducting an awareness Programme for Women Leaders at Parliament, and was held recently (17) at the Parliamentary Complex.
Delivering the keynote address, Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Chaminda Kularatne addressed the gathering on the theme “Women’s Representation in Politics and the Role of Parliament.”
In addition, Director (Legislative Servises) and Acting Director (Communication) of Parliament Mr. M. Jayalath Perera spoke on the “Committee System of Parliament.”
Commencing the programme, Executive Director of PAFFREL Mr. Rohana Hettiarachchi expressed his enthusiasm in the opportunity to engage with the most suitable institutions to gain awareness about parliamentary procedures.
Furthermore, Executive Director of the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka and Board Member of PAFFREL Dr. Jehan Perera also participated in this programme.
This programme was organized by the Public Outreach Division of the Department of Communications of Parliament in collaboration with PAFFREL.
