ද්විත්ව පුරවැසියෙකුට ජනාධිපතිවරණයට ඉදිරිපත් විය නොහැකි බවට 19 වැනි සංශෝධනයෙන් සම්මත කරගත්, ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා ප්‍රතිපාදනයට අදාළ විධිවිධාන ජනාධිපති මැතිවරණ පනතට එකතු කිරීම සඳහා කෙටුම්පත් කර ඇති සංශෝධන අගමැති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහගේ බලපෑම නිසා දීර්ඝ කාලයක් තිස්සේ කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලයට ඉදිරිපත් කර නොමැති බව වාර්තා වෙයි.

මරණ දඬුවම අහෝසි කරන ලෙසට පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ඉදිරිපත්ව තිබෙන පනත් කෙටුම්පත ඉදිරි පාර්ලිමේන්තු සති දෙකෙන් එකක විවාදයට ගැනීමට නියමිතය.

President Maithripala Sirisena has sought the opinion of the Supreme Court on the process that should be followed to hold the Provincial Council elections without a delimination report, which is to be taken up on 23 August.
